Kasagi Sight-Seeing Navigation　No.7,No.8,No.9,No.10　JR Kansai Mainline 4 Railroad Bridges

   Like the Amanobe Railroad Bridge before its demolition and reconstruction, this bridge is famous as a trestle-type bridge.  This bridge-completed in 1897- is now the oldest trestle bridge in Japan.  The abutment features bricks and cornerstones layers.

   The abutment of this bridge is a type of range ashlar masonry.  Ashlars are neatly formed, cut and beautifully stacked in the Edogiri method.  This is a valuable spot where you can observe the techniques of the period’s superior craftsmen.

   The piers supporting the beam are spire-shaped.

   This is a huge iron bridge crossing the Kizu River.  It was completed in 1897.  The abutment and piers were made of stone blocks and bricks, which remain as they were more than 100 years ago.  This bridge was designated as a JR West Japan Registry of Railroad Cultural Assets on October 14th, 2009.
